BRIEF

[CyberFlower] is an electronic potted plant in a broad sense. The original intention of making it is because that a small flower as a gift from a friend has been withered, so I want to turn it into a form of data and keep it on the table once again. So the image of data life is used in the modeling. A 0.96 inch OLED screen is used in combination with a spectral prism to represent the image of flowers, and a transparent square acrylic cover is set outside, using the image of a hypercube nested in layers to create a sense of science fiction. At the bottom are touch consoles for collecting interactive data, through which you can interact with The Flower.

CONCEPT

The acrylic cover of [CyberFlower] has the words [Fa] and aims to visually package it into the feeling of elements on display to blend into our lives, which is similar to Fe, Zn, Al, etc. Grow your own Cyber flower in the glass box, it will not wither, nor will it be broken, nor will it be eaten by the cat as catgrass, when you think of it just tip on it, it will shake the leaves, always present you the clearest smile.

PC-PROTOTYPING

The following shows the details that need to be account during the modeling and production process. On the bottom I carved the [Fa] Logo and some parameters, designed countersunk holes for the screws, and added stiffeners to the inner wall of the box and the bottom cover due to the thin wall thickness of the main body. In order to show the effect of the flower suspended in a transparent block, the display background should be pure black, which does not emit light. The black color of the LCD screen is also luminous, so I chose a 0.96 inch OLED screen. The screen, sensor and power base are fixed on the inner wall of the box by screws. As the acrylic cover is transparent, in order not to affect the appearance, UV glue is used here to bond and fix the cover and the 3D printed box body. The [Fa] and other words on the outer wall of the acrylic cover, as well as the Icon above the sensor of the 3D printing box body use the customized UV transfer solution, and the content and formats are all original.

[CyberFlower] is an electronic potted plant, two nested transparent squares are used for the visual form, so that it has a sense of science fiction. On the outside of the acrylic cover, UV transfer printing is printed with the words [Fa] and some flower data parameters. [Fa] is the homophonic of “花”, which means “Flower”, because we want to create a feeling of new elements. On the other hand, it’s also a homophonic of Chinese “发”, which has the meaning of good wishes.

[CyberFlower] consists of the following parts: 3d printed main structure, acrylic cover, 35*35*35mm splitting prism, 0.96″OLED screen, Arduino Nano, metal toggle switch, Type-C base, sensor (water drop/touch/photosensitive).
